A Dollar When I'm Hard Up IV

Another ten applications gone, some to exotic and expensive locales, and another $31.32 of my money left at the post office. Total out of pocket so far: $396.98.

Jesus. I haven't even paid for my share of an APA hotel room yet.

Isn't it ironic that philosophers who write with such compassion for the poor don't even realize how much it costs poor grad students to apply for a position.

I'm not sure why the standard isn't electronic submissions...

Well, I don't think any of us are poor in a global sense . . .

Just to one-up you in the whining stakes, I'm applying from overseas, and my expenses are well into the thousands already, mostly airfare to get to the APA.

Yes, well, the trick to keeping costs down is to not get interviews at the Eastern. It has worked for me for three years running.

My dossier weighs over 13 ounces, so it's bumped into the priority price range. It costs $4.60 in posted alone per job.
