You wanted new threads and now you get a whole new blog. Second Suitor and I are flying solo over yonder at our new venture, The Philosophy Smoker. Details about what we're up to and the type of commenting community we're trying to go for are already up, as is this sad little story courtesy of Second Suitor via the wiki.
So, update your bookmarks and subscription to philosophysmoker.blogspot.com and come on over, everyone is more than welcome.

Is this a coup? Are PGOAT and nth year, etc., tied up in your basement?
I don't like a) have to have a new account to leave comments and b) holding my fucking tongue on the internet. Graduate students in philosophy are a profane, petty bunch, and it has been nice to have a place to exhibit this without having to have some silly account to do so.
Agree with 3:05.
Anon. 3:05 (cross-posted to the Smoker),
The point of usernames isn't to have anyone hold their tongue about anything, nor is it to stop profanity, or even pettiness. You can still bitch just as much as you want, we just ask you attach a username to it. The silly account is pretty inoffensive, I take it, as easy as creating an avatar online, or your dwarf character in World of Warcraft.
The point is to create comment threads in which comments can easily be referred back to, so that commenters themselves generate their own followers, and so we can avoid threads in which asshole trolls are just being responded to. We want discussion, whether civil, profane, or otherwise.
Zzzzzzzzzz. Snore! So all the non-assholes will likely drift to Phil SMoker, and the rest of us will linger here!? Well, a blog with only assholes seems better than a blog without assholes, so suck it Smoker!
By all means, feel free to be an asshole at PhilSmoker, Anon 9:58. They'll be fine with that. Just, you know, be an asshole with a consistent pseudonym. We're closing up shop here at PJMB, so you might as well find a new place to play.
I'm going to second PGOAT here. I was a little strong with the no-asshole criterion; the important part of commenting is the consistent psuedonym. And the other stuff was to just give you an idea of what is frowned upon just in case your comment disappears or doesn't get posted.
Personally, I fancy myself an asshole at times, I just frown upon cowardice.
PGOAT and PGS,
Thanks for maintaining this helpful blog. I've been an avid reader for well over a year, and this blog has helped me in innumerable ways. From application/interview strategies to issues in the profession to sheer venting. Thanks, and best of luck to you.
PGOAT and PGS,
I'll second Mr. Zero on this. Thanks for setting up and running the blog. It's been informative, and even more it's been excellent fun. Sorry if the trolls have gotten you down, and good for you if you're closing shop because you're moving on to better things (graduation, jobs, etc.). You will be missed in the blogosphere.
Mr. Zero, Could you please get in contact with Second Suitor and I at philosophysmoker [at] gmail [dot] com?
