I just left the academy this year after ten years on the job market. Over the course of those ten years, I'd taken three different contract positions in three different states, none of which were the three OTHER different states that my partner worked in. I, of course, was one of the "lucky" ones, since these were full-time positions with benefits.<BR/><BR/>Anyway, I've read back all the way to May in your blog, and now I feel obliged to comment, because I actually did sink low enough at one point to apply to one of these "statement-of-faith" colleges. I happen to be a [very liberal] Christian, so I naively assumed that I could grit my teeth, sign the thingum that said I believe in God, and start collecting paychecks.<BR/><BR/>Just so you know, in their followup package, this particular college asked me not only to sign and return a statement of faith, but also sign and return a "statement of conduct" which included things like not going out late and promising to wear appropriately modest clothing.<BR/><BR/>Desperate as I was, I drew the line there.ASGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03555941642116810948noreply@blogger.com
